Hunter went missing on 8/31/07 from Iowa City, IA.  What a great story with an even happier ending!

If anyone sent the original lost dog message around, please send this to
the same places. Hunter had been missing for about a week. While there
were very few people on the ground in Iowa City there were people all
over the world working on this. In an amazing coordinated effort,
people were thinking of all the possible places to send flyers; others
were calling and faxing them. Hundreds of faxes were being sent out
from South Africa. A “pet detective” with a tracking dog, Zoe, came in
from Wyoming. It was on TV, radio and in the papers. Apparently
Hunter had been seen being hit by a car early on, but not seriously
hurt. Iowa City seems to be a very difficult place to find a dog that
has become wary of humans; there are lots of steep valleys and wooded
areas. They say that there is a heard of 3,000 to 5,000 deer that live
in the city limits and are never seen. So finally it all payed off.
Hunter seems to be ok other than hungry, dehydrated and has sore feet.
He goes to the vet later today.

call Hunter”.

– They did and Hunter tried to go to them. He had to go down a very steep
rough embankment to get to them and he wouldn’t go down (his pads are very
